About the SABYA-NMJF Career Expo

The South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) in partnership with Nkosi Minenkulu Joyi Foundation (NMJF) will host its first annual Career Expo in the Eastern Cape. Career guidance is recognised as a critical mechanism to provide information on the different exit opportunities and provide learners with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the wide variety of options available in the Post-Education and Training (PSET) system and industry.

The objectives of the career expo:

  1. Create a platform for learners to get information about various education, skills and career opportunities that they should explore, in different sectors.
  2. For  learners to have direct interactions with industry professionals, learn about the current industry trends and requirements so they can equip themselves with the necessary skills to stand out in the job market.
  3. To encourage South Africa’s youth to access opportunities available through the different  programs.

Layout of the Career Expo

A representative from Higher Education Institutions to present on the various vocational qualifications offered, the eligibility requirements for admission and the application process.

A representative from the Eastern Cape Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development (YARD), which is a structure which was established by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural development. The presentation will be focused on showcasing the different careers in the agricultural sector.

The role of entrepreneurship in economic development is substantial. After all, entrepreneurs don’t just build businesses and grow their personal wealth; they also impact the economy by creating new jobs and opportunities, driving innovation, and developing new markets, products, and services. The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation will present the Grade 12 University Fellowship opportunity which provides academic, financial and entrepreneurial support for their University.

The creative economy is based on the contribution and potential of creative assets to contribute to economic growth and development.The creative economy embraces economic, cultural and social aspects interacting with technology, intellectual property and tourism objectives. Various speakers will present on the opportunities in the creative economy.

The Decade of the Artisan campaign aims to produce 30 000 artisans per year by 2030, as indicated in the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 and the White Paper for Post-School Education and Training. A representative will provide an overview on the various artisanal career opportunities.

Embassies represent a country through maintaining foreign relations between the home country and host government.A representative from one of the Embassies will provide a presentation on their role as well as current study,skills and funding opportunities.
