SABYA University Chapters

SABYA University chapters serve as focal points between the broader organisation and its members at South African universities. Recognising that student communities have historically played a key role as catalysts in society, SABYA aims to create platforms for students to active engage with the BRICS community and its objectives. Chapters create such a platform by bringing together like-minded youth within universities through common affiliation to the Association. Furthermore, the chapters aim to engage young people in discussions, activities, and initiatives related to the BRICS group and global affairs. Through their activities, they promote awareness, understanding, and collaboration among South African youth interested in the BRICS member nations.

1. Establish a sense of community and common purpose among BRICS-minded youth.
2. Educate student communities on BRICS, its objectives and its vision.
3. Promote enthusiasm among South African youth for the interconnected future of BRICS and global South nations.
4. Stimulate interest among students in becoming part of SABYA’s initiatives.
5. Create channels for students to benefit from BRICS in their personal and professional development.
6. Raise up a generation of BRICS+ orientated leaders to enter diverse sectors of society.
7. Promoting Awareness: Raise awareness about the BRICS group, its goals, and its impact on global politics, economics, and culture among university students and the wider community.
8. Youth Engagement: Provide a platform for South African youth to actively engage with BRICS-related topics through discussions, seminars, workshops, and events.
9. Networking: Facilitate networking opportunities among students, academics, and professionals interested in BRICS affairs, fostering connections that may lead to future collaborations.
10. Research and Academic Initiatives: Encourage academic research and publications related to BRICS nations and their interactions, contributing to a deeper understanding of these countries’ roles on the global stage.
11. Advocacy: Advocate for the interests and perspectives of South African youth in the context of BRICS, ensuring that their voices are heard on relevant issues.
