SABYA Virtual International Volunteer Program

About the SABYA Virtual International Volunteer Program

The South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) is proud to introduce the Virtual International Volunteer Program, a dynamic initiative aimed at engaging youth from South Africa and BRICS+ countries in impactful volunteer activities. This fully virtual program offers participants the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, develop valuable skills, and connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, all from the comfort of their own homes. The internship will be between 03-12 months depending on the project and partner organisation.

The objectives of the SABYA Virtual International Volunteer Program:

  1. Provide virtual volunteer opportunities for youth from South Africa and BRICS+ countries, fostering cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
  2. Equip volunteers with skills, knowledge, and experiences that support their personal and professional development.
  3. Facilitate virtual collaboration and networking among participants, building a global community of engaged and empowered youth.
  4. Promote the values of volunteerism, social responsibility, and global citizenship among program participants and their communities.

The expected outcomes of the SABYA Virtual International Volunteer Program:

  1. Enhanced cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among participants from diverse backgrounds.
  2. Acquisition of valuable skills such as remote collaboration, digital communication, and project management.
  3. Establishment of virtual connections and friendships across borders, fostering a sense of global community and solidarity.
  4. Meaningful contributions to virtual volunteer projects, resulting in positive social impact and sustainable change.
  5. Empowerment of youth to become active advocates for volunteerism, social justice, and sustainable development in their communities.

Program Structure

SABYA will advertise the program online and through partner organizations in BRICS+ countries, inviting youth to apply for virtual volunteer positions.

Selected volunteers will undergo virtual orientation sessions to familiarize themselves with the program objectives, expectations, and tools. Training sessions on virtual collaboration, project management, and intercultural communication will also be provided.

Volunteers will be assigned to virtual projects spanning a range of focus areas, such as education, environment, healthcare, entrepreneurship, policy development, research, monitoring and evaluation, and social welfare. They will collaborate with peers and project coordinators through online platforms, contributing their skills and expertise to meaningful initiatives.

Participants will have opportunities to connect with fellow volunteers, mentors, and guest speakers through virtual networking events, discussion forums, and social media platforms. These interactions will facilitate relationship-building, knowledge-sharing, and peer support.

SABYA will monitor volunteer engagement, track project progress, and gather feedback from participants through online surveys and evaluations. This data will inform program improvements and measure the impact of volunteer contributions.
